This was Francois’ 2nd day in Peru. The night before we agreed to meet for lunch. I picked him up at Rom’s at 1:15pm in my new car, haha. I have driven some TB’s before, but never with this car. Francois is the 1st one :) So, this drive was even more special, hehe. Although is winter time in Lima, these past few days have been sunny and this wasn’t an exception. Ok, what do we like to eat when is sunny??? Cebiche!!! So, let’s go for some fish & seafood. I remembered he mad...

DAY 11(THE SADDEST DAY OF THE TRIP) When we arrived in Guayaquil and some of the passenger’s vacation was not finished. About 6, was dropped off to catch a plane to Lima, Peru and some to Santiago, Chile.  We all clapped and wish them save travels.   We all arrived at 5pm, some of us happy to go home and some are melancholy …..ME :( I slept another 2hrs when we left Guayaquil.  We all collected our room keys and we all went upstairs to quickly change to g...

It was the third day of the civil unrest, and my fifth day in La Paz. In an attempt to enforce the Bolivian government to improve life for the Bolivians, farmers and students had organised a series of protests. By blockading all major roads in the country they literally brought the entire country to a grinding halt, as no road or rail travel was possible outside the big cities. So it looked like I was stuck in La Paz, which worried me as time was running out. I only had eight days left until...

Finally we arrived to Lima around 2am! Was the flight so short? Not at all. Buenos Aires is two hours ahead of Lima, so actually we arrived at 4am, that’s why I was feeling tired. Anyway a good thing of a delayed flight is the fact you arrive to the airport while nobody is arriving, haha. So, it’s pretty easy to go through customs. It took a bit long until our bags came out, but it wasn’t too bad. Before leaving Buenos Aires, I was able to arrange the taxi and a cab was waiting fo...

after a great & relaxed ecuadorian evening yesterday, which was exactly what i needed after my overheating / altitude overkill during the day, i enjoyed my last night at the hostel and as usual woke up early in the middle of the night!today we strolled through the quito old town and climbed the beautiful basilica, a great church near the secret garden. the ecuadorians really try to make a safe impression by having tons of police / paramilitary guards everywhere... there are at least 5 dif...

well, after almost 2 busy weeks I was back in Lima. We arrived on time. The flight was good and the service was good too. I was happy, because it wouldn't take me so long going home, but... Customs's lines were long!!! It took me almost 1 hour being ready. Well, in the meanwhile I met a nice guy, who was in the plane too.  I started to talk to him and it was so fun, he turned to be friend of one of my formers teachers from the university, hahaha. It didn't take so long until I got my ba...

After three days, including one cancelled flight, I finally made it to the last continent on my world tour, starting in Bogota, Colombia.  Luckily it´s been a week since my journey so I no longer care to complain about some of the hassles I dealt with in LAX, but being on U.S. soil was strange and a bit depressing really.  I think I glimpsed what I will feel like when my trip comes to an end.   But here I am, still on the road and glad for it!  A good friend´s brotherÂ...

First Impressions of Brazil

My mom and I were on separate flights back to the US, so she boarded a flight to Dallas while I waited for my flight to Miami. The CCS house manager in Salvador told me there were medical centers at all of the airports in Brazil where I could possibly get my third vaccination. I had to get it on the 15th and it would be too late in the day to get it once I got back to California. I had a three hour layover in Sao Paulo, and it was officially the 15th when I got there, so I wandered arou...

Hi everyone, not really much to say for my first day but I wanted to let the worriers know that after an all nighter last night and about 15 hours of sleeping on planes and airports I made it here safely. I should have some stories soon and the free internet here in the hostel has camera card slots so I should be able to upload some pics soon.  Stay tuned...   I spent the day roaming through old town Quito.  It reminds me of Havana Cuba but cleaner.  As ex...

had a great time in brasil -- i particularly LOVED bahia - i.e., salvador, morro and boipeba.  i will most definitely miss the people - both tourists and locals - the weather and wearing flip flops day in and day out. the bus ride from buzios to rio was uneventful.  a cab driver from the bus station to the airport tried to rip me off by putting the meter on flag 2 -- when it was still daylight.  i said, hell no! as my plane woes go, my flight from rio to dc was delayed... Cartagena is a very beautiful city. The old city is enclosed in thick walls and protected by several old fortresses. In some places the walls are 40 feet thick and 40 feet high. The huge fortress overlooking the city on the hilltop is quite impressive with a labrynth of passageways inside the walls of the fort and great views over the city and ocean. The old city ajoins the new city of high-rise condos and a fancy harbor. The old city is very charming with narrow streets and old crumbling bui...

ANDREI - Had to bid Nicola farewell as she was due to return to England while Kerry and I met up with Budget Expeditions tour in the evening.  Tears were shed after she left to hook up with her friend Gemma and we had to get used to travelling without her. After, we had another little wander around the vicinity of Hostal Roma, then congregated in the hostal's cafe for the pre-departure meeting with our tour leader (Mateo, a Brit - the locals have trouble pronouncing "Matthew")...

As I said up there in the summary, I'm a dashingly handsome 3yr old Teddy Bear called Paddy (short for Patrick - but I'm actually quite tall - over 20cms!) from Scoil Cnoc na Naomh, a primary school in Doire Chonaire, Gort an Choirce, Dhún na nGall (Donegal in Ireland). I'm being sort of 'bear-napped' by this PaulKernan guy who is taking me on his travels to Spain and Colombia. I've seen lots of the world already, been to Disney World Paris, Australia, USA, Scotland and England but this is ...

AA 7738 (LA 997), Departs SCL 9:45 AM, Arrives PUQ 1:00 PM (Scheduled) The flight to Santiago headed south from Miami over Cuba, through the Caribbean, then across Panama.  The flight stayed over the Pacific Ocean for the most part, skirting Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru, before arriving in Chile. Served a decent dinner on LAN, along with complimentary wine (nothing fancy but didn't have to pay for it like one would on a US airline).  After dinner I slept fitfully like I tend to on ...
