Souk Al Bahar Dubai Reviews
Souk Al Bahar Nov 26, 2009
Souk Al Bahar is an Arabesque shopping mall and entertainment spot located in the heart of the prestigious Downtown Burj Dubai. Souk Al Bahar features over 100 retail shops in a mix that includes 22 restaurants, cafés and lounges framing the souk’s extensive waterfront promenade. The line up of boutiques in the souk ranges from Arabic handicrafts, fashionwear, accessories, carpets, furnishings etc.
Souk Al Bahar translates to "Market of the Sailor" boasts its traditional souk architecture of natural stone corridors, high archways and subdued lighting. Its unique "seaside" location on an island in the Burj Dubai man-made lake makes it an extremely popular night & weekend spot.
Dining at the Souk Al Bahar is a "must do", where you will find an international mix of casual to fine dining restaurants and cafés stretching the waterfront promenade and overlooking the Burj Dubai Tower (presently the tallest architecture in the world).
Some of the dining options available based on my observations are:
* Karma Kafe - Fusion & Bar
* Mango Tree - Thai
* Rivington Grill
* Urbano - Italian
* Baker & Spice
* Hive - Lounge
* Mirai - Japanes
While dining, I also had the chance to witness the daily fountain show (equivalent to the one in Las Vegas). Despite some lacking in laser effects & color lights, I still find it very magnificient especially when it is accompanied with Arabic blend of music. The water fountain show lasted about 10 minutes each and is continuous after every 20 minutes interval (I guess as I didn't time). And again with the Burj Dubai Tower as the backdrop, it makes everything looked impressive.
And to top off this blog, I need to make a recommendation for readers to check out the Neos Bar & Calabar in The Address Hotel & Residence (next to Souk Al Bahar). No cover charge but the view of Dubai City from those two bars are simply not to be missed. Food there are not excellent but be prepared to pay for the drinks because they are slightly above the average price.
Public metred taxi is not a problem here, so you can just get on/off easily. Be sure to check this place if you're ever visiting Dubai. I definitely had a good time here.
