Affordable, but very delicious Spanish food. Popular for the wonderful tapas. Apr 26, 2008
Sotavento is probably one of the most popular restaurants in the two adjacents towns of Troisdorf and Siegburg.

Proof: chances are you won't get a place to park your car if you get there any later than 7pm.

Sotavento (spanish for "under the wind", "leeward") is situated right next to the bridge over the small river Agger. This, however, does not really compromise the beauty of the location. The building itself is surrounded by high trees. It's also possible to walk some steps down to the meadows of the river Agger.

The interior of the restaurant is old-fashioned, mediterranean, warm and inviting. On some evenings, the air consists of 80% tobacco smoke, which is a little drawback. Yet this will have to stop anyway - as soon as smoking in public rooms is officially banned, which will be in July 2008.

The food, in one word, is delicious. They have pretty good salads, meat and fish a lso, but most guests order tapas which are put in the middle of the table so that everyone can serve himself. Be sure to order at least two of these lovely little dishes for every one person at the table. But it's also very common to reorder if you're hungry for more. The waitresses and waiters are mostly young, friendly and very quick (!).

Don't forget to call them in advance to book a table. And don't forget to order dates in bacon either (mmmmh!).
