Sossusvlei Lodge Sesriem

This lodge is located in Sesriem just outside of the gate to the Namib Naukluft Park. It is the ideal place where to stay if you are visiting the sand dunes of Sossusvlei located some 60km away.

Although the 45 individual units are partly covered by canvas roof, the term camping is perhaps not so appropriate to describe this type of accommodation!

The entrance hall and bathroom (with hot water and shower) in the back are built in adobe over a slate floor that extends all the way to the front veranda. The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable but you won’t find any telephone, television or air conditioning. They are however equipped with rotary fans and the zip windows in the canvas structure can be opened and adjusted to let just enough air cool down the room.

Remember this is in the desert and telephonic and data communications are via satellite link.

Facilities include a swimming pool, a bar and a curio shop.

The restaurant organises great buffets for dinner and breakfast.

I stayed 2 very pleasant nights in this lodge and would highly recommend it.

Admiring the sunset over the desert from the room veranda or the terrace of the restaurant was an awesome experience.
