Sonati Leon Reviews
Sonati Hostel Mar 18, 2011
First night in Leon I could not find free room in couple hostels, so I ended up in Sonati as a recommendation from some other hostel. We stayed in dorms for $5 and it is good value for good strong bed. Top beds are a bit high, and no security side-holder, but good beds in general. (Did I mention that they are good?)
Dorms are classic 6 bed with bathroom and shower inside every room.
They have nice garden in the middle of the yard, with roses and lots of hummingbirds flying around, and few very funny cats.
I love this colonial buildings, mostly plain from the front, but when you get in... you see that people here know how to live well. Large kitchen with all stuff needed for cooking and storing food, internet, safety boxes, lots of books to trade. They will fill your water bottles with clean water for fraction of the store price in order to recycle plastic bottles.
Whole niche of this hostel is environment preservation, and they make tours around the area showing eco practices. They have good veggie-restaurant next door with good food, and nice people working there.
Few more days we stayed in private room that was $20 per day. Spacious, with bathroom, clean, good bed.
Location is in the middle of the town, 2 blocks away from cathedral, and close to one of the parks.
No much fun, if you are not into laying in hammock, reading book, or checking internet, but there is lots of bars around, so roam around a bit.
I would stay there longer, but they had previous reservations for my room.
Recommend this place for quietness, good causes they do and good people that work there.
