Somewhere to Stay Brisbane Reviews
Affordable living close to Brisbane CBD Jan 27, 2011
Somewhere to Stay is located in West End, Brisbane. West End is one of the coolest areas of Brisbane with nice cafes, restaurants and night clubs, the CBD also within a walking distance.
SWTS is a backpackers hostel with different types of rooms, from 8-bed dorms to deluxe rooms. Some rooms have ensuite bathrooms but some have shared facilities. I stayed at this hostel for 5 months, in dorms and twin rooms with a friend of mine. It can get a bit loud sometimes (it's a backpackers, hello!) but usually quiets down by midnight. The property itself is slightly old which means that you will find the occasional missing tile etc. Personally I didn't mind this much, and for the price you pay (which is the cheapest in Brisbane) it offers you with a good place to rest your head and chill. The hostel attracts a wide array of people which also makes it so much more fun!
The facilities at the hostel are good. They have a big self catering kitchen with fridges, outdoor barbecue area, and best of all for hot sunny days.. a pool area! They also provide laundry machines and internet for a small cost. There is a big TV room with chairs and bean bags with movies/TV running all day long. The hostel can also help you with any travel arrangements, the staff is there from 8am to 8.30pm and 9pm to 4am to assist you with what you need. Which brings me to the best reason to stay here.. the people!!
The staff at Somewhere to Stay are so friendly and helpful! They helped me and my friend book rental cars and gave us tips on places to go to. Also the guests at SWTS are very relaxed and laid back bunch of people :)
One point I should make is that guests are allowed to bring their own drinks to the hostel and consume them on the premises. They do not have a bar etc so either way it might be an issue for some people. Personally I liked it as after work I could wind down in the TV room with a cold drink in my hand or share one with my friends.
I'm sure that people have been worried about traveling to Brisbane lately but I can assure you, everything is coming back to normal now. So if you are in search of affordable accommodation, it's easy to remember.. Somewhere to Stay!
