Centrally located serviced apartments in Makati Nov 16, 2012
Somerset is what used to be Olympia Suites along Makati Avenue, right across Urdaneta Village and near The Peninsula Hotel Manila. The official name of the property is Somerset Olympia Makati. It is a relatively older building as this area is right across what used to be the original airport of Manila in the 40s and 50s (Nielsen Tower).

As it is a central location, you are better off walking to the Ayala Malls (Glorietta and Greenbelt) if traffic gets in the way. Across the street is Ayala Triangle, home to the Philippine Stock Exchange and a beautiful park with a row of restaurants to boot.

There is basement parking at Somerset, although if you park on a weekend, chances are you can get free parking at the street behind it. There are four building towers (although only 8 storeys high), and at the higher levels, only four units to a floor. The better view is on tower B, eight floor with the number 3 and 4 rooms. This is the view overlooking Urdaneta Village (no high-rises) and Bonifacio Global City in the horizon.

There are many food choices in the building itself, or the surrounding area. Downstairs is the Old Swiss Inn, and across the street are at least a dozen popular restaurants at the Ayala Triangle. And a five minute walk away is the elegant The Peninsula Hotel Manila.

The higher level rooms (two bedroom premiere/deluxe) on the 8th floor have a split level, with the living, dining room and kitchen at the lower level. On the higher level are the bedrooms and a study area. A large family can easily fit in here although the number of beds is usually limited to four persons, although roll-away beds may be requested.

There are other amenities including broadband internet access, a fitness center and a pool.

Bottomline is, if you are looking for a central spot in the Makati CBD, want to avoid traffic yet want to be near the action, and don't need a full service hotel, Somerset Olympia Makati is a great choice.

Team Night Out. Mar 22, 2012
Two thumbs up for Somerset Hotel!

My team, Manchester, really enjoyed staying at Somerset Hotel. We decided to stay here for two days and a night just to have bonding moments - indeed, friendship has forged, again.

The hotel, located at the heart of Makati Business Center, is really recommended - very clean, affordable, and has friendly staff.

This Salcedo Village based hotel, offers free wifi, and unlimited access to some amenities - billiards, swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym, etc.

If I have time, I'll surely come back to Somerset Hotel.

Summer at the Somerset Hotel Oct 14, 2011
Somerset Hotel is the perfect place for summer, especially if you are a type of person who divulge more time indoors.

I have been in this hotel twice now, and they never disappointed me. In fact, I am more than impressed now especially the very good sight on the lobby. Beautiful.

I love seeing other buildings too from the room. You can see the busy streets. The lights are really fascinating. Luckily, I've got the chance to stay with my friend, who paid the hotel bills. We stayed there for a night and I want to come back and have a Somerset experience, once more!
