Hi,
since you already got plenty of help I just want to add some more points that might be useful (sorry if I mention points of others again;-):

-January/February/March you wont have much fun in the 'Northern' countries, only if you fancy skiing, which can be quite expensive
-I'd suggest to come late march
-For getting around, consider an interrail ticket, which brings you across all Europe by train
-Dont forget the 'Eastern European' countries, they are cheaper and usually offer great value for a few bucks, ie Croatia where I recently spent an excellent week
-Slovenia is considered the rafting capital if you fancy this, also cheap and great value
-Alcohol is expensive in Scandinavian countries;-)

If I can be of any further help, just contact me

Really don't worry about Mom and Dad before that point.  Don't even mention that we are planning.  After 22 years I have figured out that they initially say no to EVERYTHING (unless it involves me moving out of the house!)  but when presented with a well developed plan, they are always… Potential Itineraries

Current point being, you will eventually decide to do what you think is the smart thing and buy a calling card. And half the time… THE CALLING CARDS DON’T WORK. The first calling card I bought was from some bootleg cellphone store in London ’s Oxford… PROS & CONS.
