Solomons Vacation Guide
Solomons became an official town in 1870 when its first post office opened. In the following years, it became the industrial center of Calvert County. Shipbuilding and seafood harvesting created the economic base of the town.
While the 1920's and 30's saw a decrease in prosperity, the establishment of the Navy in the area during WWII brought about revitalization and a population surge (a jump of 2,000 in only 3 years). Although only one base in the surrounding area still operates (across the river in St. Mary's County), the naval presence is still evident.
Visitors to Solomon have a variety of restaurants, bars (the Tiki Bar is a county summer favorite), and shops. Historical buildings include churches and homes. The Calvert Marine Museum is considered a gem.

Well, I really can't write about all these other places in the world without promoting MY fine state can I?
Baltimore: "Charm City' is a secret gem of a place to visit, and to live. It was crap in the 1970's, but has risen above to become a great destination.
Since I fly, I'll show you much of the state from the air AND the ground. Enjoy.

Everyone woke up relatively early, which was impressive because we all got quite intoxicated over the campfire the night before--or was it just me? Danielle and Kelc made breakfast as we got ready to head down to Solomons Island to take a boat tour of the Patuxent River.
