Sofitel Centara Grand Hotel Bangkok
Sofitel Centara Grand Hotel Bangkok Reviews
Out of the way Mar 21, 2008
For westerner, this hotel maybe are not that expensive. It's a five star hotel and the price is about 4000 baht (130 USD) a night. But for Asian like me, especially being Indonesian where all hotels are cheap, this hotel is expensive.
The room is old, the carpet looks old, everything looks old. Not so many refurbishment done since my last stay, a year ago. With the "no refurbishment" this hotel is nothing to be compared to the new and latest hotel, but the unfair things is that they charge the same price to the new and latest hotel. The service is bad, me and my husband arrived and need to wait 1 hour for our room to be ready (and we booked it 1 week before and already mention our arrival time). Then when it's ready, they gave us 2 single beds. So we need to change room again, to be able to get 1 king size bed (and for this we wait for another hour). Breakfast is not that bad, but the bar is extremely expensive. We paid 15 USD for 1 beer. A price that is more expensive than a bar in Europe. ANother thing expensive is internet, which cost 25 baht a minute (almost 1 dollar per minute). Besides, the location is very far from town, we need to take taxi of 200 baht one way, and most of the time cannot come back (because from town is very rare taxi want to come to this area). And because it's far from city center, no wireless connection can be catched around. There is a metro (underground) nearby, but skytrain is about 2 km away. Better not to go to this hotel, if you expect to enjoy the city center and if u go there for work where internet is a must. |
