Super fun, just about every game you could imagine. Jun 23, 2014
We've always had fun here. It's a very casual atmosphere and accommodates tables of two to large groups of people. You pay a few bucks "cover" to stay (maybe $5 or so, I forget)... I guess some people just play and don't order anything. They have hundreds of games and will help you decide and learn how to play new ones. I've only ever ordered coffee and dessert, but it's been great every time. It's a fun alternative to just hanging at a typical cafe. Enjoy!

Fun and Friendly Toronto Hotspot Sep 30, 2012
Snakes and Lattes isn't that old, but it's become a staple in Toronto, particularly for the fun, down-to-earth 18-30ish crowd. It's not snobby and doesn't cater to an exclusively hipster crowd, which sets it apart from a lot of other cafes that have a stack of games or a bookshelf. In fact, the staff and a lot of the clientele are laidback nerdy types, although all sorts of folk do seem to be trying it out these days. Obviously, the draw is board games, and this is the reason to go- not for the notoriously sub-par food. (That said, the menu has been expanding and improving of late- the quiche is pretty decent and beer is cheap.) The game selection is outstanding, and I believe they will actually seek out games that customers request but aren't currently available. I know lots of people appreciate the nostalgia of discovering an old game that they remember growing up with in the 80's or 90's (like Dream Phone), and others just come for the novelty of playing Boggle and getting drinks delivered to them. I'd recommend trying at least one new game while there, to make it worthwhile. (Betrayal at the House on the Hill and Cards Against Humanity are both great fun for groups!) There are always staff roaming around to see if anyone needs help. They are incredibly well-versed in the rules of even the most obscure games, and are eager to give advice and even run through a round of a game with you. Also, they won't kick you out if you're not done your game yet at closing time. For $5, you can stay as long as you want, whether or not you order food, and I think this is a great deal. Easy to see why they're expanding into the next-door building now. This is a fun place for a group of friends to hang out, or just a couple. There are games for any number of people!
