Sloppy Joe's was a MAJOR LET DOWN! Jun 19, 2006
I and my companions were walking along Duval Street and decided to get dinner at the renowned Sloppy Joe's. When we got our table a band was finishing a song. Our waitress came and took our order and as she did the band was packing up. As we're waiting for our food the MC was saying that they had some stand-up comic coming on next and started saying that the next act was somewhat explicit. Unfortunately, our food and drinks had just arrived so, being good people, we decided not to walk out on the check and instead just eat really fast because how bad could the act be? Well, I have never been so degraded as a woman and so completely offended. Two disgusting men started to trash women as if they were nothing but garbage! I'm sure some of you are tempted to say it, but prude I am not. This crossed a major line of poking fun and absolutely debasing women. I was raised to be a strong, proud and confident woman...and to never stand for any sexism or harassment. People just passing by on the street were even subjected to this filth because it was so loud. I felt bad for the parents walking by with younger kids since this was going on at about 7-8pm which you could easily hear from the sidewalk. It's appalling that they would subject everyone to that garbage. Talk about taking a million steps back from how far women have come...and I'm not even a feminist, lol! This place is plain trash and I would NEVER go back! I'm so sorry I spent my time and money there.

It draws you in Nov 11, 2009
This is a crazy bar in the heart of Key West. It draws you in when you walk by it. "Can all these people really be having this much fun?" Well you just have to go in for yourself and see. And you will .... for about 15 minutes. I have never been in this place where the lyrics of whoever is crooning doesn't turn to feminine hygiene. (A little funny at first). Then the excess consumption of alcohol loses its charm real quick. (They seemed so friendly at first). But don't take my word for it. It is a place only to be found in Key West. So go in, sit down and have a drink, you will definitely be smiling at some point and I am sure you will always remenber your time that you spent there :)

Sloppy Joes Dec 02, 2007
Sloppy Joes, on Duvall Street, is famous as a favorite hang out of writer Ernest Hemingway. The walls are filled with pictures and memorabillia of that time. The atmosphere was laid back when I was there in the afternoon. The bartenders were friendly. While just hanging back and listening I heard them tell some of the dirtiest jokes I had ever heard. Ask about the "Dirty Hook" and the "Verizon". If your are going to attempt the Duvall Crawl, you should absolutely make this a stop. They have a gift shop, if you want to pick up a tee or polo shirt.

I wanted to have a beer at Sloppy Joes. This was Ernest Hemingway’s favorite hangout when he lived in Key West .
