Crowded, pricey, but so happy I went Nov 19, 2012
I am a lover of rooftops and have been known to sneak to the tops of many hotels for a good view. THIS view is one of my top favorites to date. This modern outdoor rooftop bar sits 63 stories above Bangkok but is just as bustling as the city below. The bar area itself is small and dark, aside from the rave-esque lighting the counter emits. Not a very intimate setting, but if you are patient and can manage to squeeze into a spot on the railing and peer down at the lights below. Since my husband and I were on our honeymoon we decided to splurge and each get a drink, totally about $40US. Although, I easily could have done without the drink and just enjoyed the view.

Stunning Views of the Chao Phraya River and City Sep 26, 2011
Sky Bar @ Lebua Hotel - one of the many rooftop bars I had heard about before coming to Bangkok, that I knew I had to try. The first time I came here was on my 24th Birthday last year, and have since returned with several visitors from Australia.

Situated on the 64th floor of the Lebua Hotel at State Tower in Silom, it is one of the most amazing and stylish places in Bangkok I have been to. It is one of the worlds highest open air bars, over looking a 360 degree panoramic view of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River. The Ambiance is unquestionably superb - waiters in suits and waitresses in long fancy dresses greet you at the bottom of a flight of stone steps, then escort you past the outdoor dining area to the bar

Drinks are very pricey, starting at around 500baht for their cheapest, and ranging to well over 1000baht just for a cocktail or glass of wine. Plus they add 7% VAT and 10% service charge, so the prices go up again. Comparing these prices to places in Sydney, Australia (where I'm from) its average, possibly even cheap, but in accordance to Bangkok prices - very expensive. They also have light snacks available - try the strawberries and cherries with cream. Just Delicious!!

They do have a strict dress code - no flipflops, thongs, sandals, shorts, and shirts must be smart.

The bar is open every day, and they do not take reservations as it is standing room only.

When the outside bar is closed due to rain, there is an inside bar area. This area is very upper class also, with big lounge chairs and leather seats. Dim lighting as well sets a very private mood. The inside area still has a very good view of the city, yet you cannot compare to the outside bar area.

Definitely a must visit when coming to Bangkok!

P.S This was also the location of the movie - The Hangover 2 - and they have a 'HangoverTini' which is a must try - very smooth and delicious.
