Skogafoss Hotel Bistro Bar Skogar Reviews
Six Backpack??? Aug 20, 2014
Wow, the Bistro Bar was just what the doctor ordered after a long hike. Apparently a part of the Skogafoss Hotel, the eatery sits in its own building, which basically has a large front window (and open-air porch) offering views of Skogafoss. Backpackers are presumed to be the customer base, as we literally had to squeeze past a huge pile of gear dropped at the entrance by patrons.
Bistro Bar is designed to short circuit slow service concerns we encountered elsewhere. All the tables are numbered and you report to the bar counter to place an order. You pay there and just let them know your table number. Drinks are handled identically: belly up to the bar if you want another round and your mug is cheerfully filled.
The food was great and reasonably priced. I ordered the soup and bread (this is your safest bet should there be a shred of uncertainty --- the soup was ALWAYS good!) , which was warming, meaty and flavorful. Laura ordered ribs and that was probably the best choice of all. She shared a nibble that made me think twice about my selection. Jodi got fish and Mike pasta, both exclaiming satisfaction with their choices.
The place isn’t classy, pretty much a big room with tables. However, there aren’t so many tables that the place is crowded, the views are super and beer flows easily. A great stop.
