Only for lovers of tacky seaside resorts Oct 08, 2013
Skeggy, as it seems to be referred to by the locals and the busloads of Yorkshire folk who come here for their summer holidays, is seriously for amusement arcade loving, crazy-golf-playing and cheesy disco dancing people only.
The town is overflowing with fish and chips outlets, and the possibilities to chance your arm at coconut shy are endless. When night falls, the 'Skegness Illuminations' are turned on, giving the town a real gaudy, headache atmosphere to overlay all that tacky cabaret.
Redeeming features include a sea-pup sanctuary and a plethora of cheap B&B's, but when it comes down to it, Skegness is essentially a poor man's Blackpool, and it doesn't even have an iconic tower to stand up to it: the 'jolly fisherman' does not bear comparison!
