My boyfriend and I have been traveling around the world for the past 7 months so we’ve seen our fair share of hotels all over South America and Asia. But one hotel stands out from them all. That is Sivalai Place in Bangkok. First the rooms are more like apartments with a separate bedroom and a living room with wide screen tv with English channels, a kitchen area with kettle, microwave etc.. When you’ve been on the road for quite a while as we have it’s just lovely to be able to chill out in an apartment and cook your own food for a change. And talk about clean – they are spotless and as the hotel was only built last year everything in the room is new. There is a fabulous ozone pool which after a hot day running around the city looking at temples and shopping is an absolute delight. But most importantly the friendliness and efficiency of the staff makes Sivalai feel like a home away from home, a delightful retreat to return to at the end of a busy day out sightseeing. The staff make you feel like they are there to take care of your every need. You can order room service from the restaurant downstairs and have the food delivered to your room. There is a café where you can grab a latte as you run out the door or sit and enjoy a fruit shake. All in all we highly recommend Sivalai Place as the no. 1 place to stay in Bangkok for everyone – families, students, professionals – it caters to everyone. You won’t be disappointed!

If you traveling to Bangkok as a backpacker, a main destination is definitely Khaosan Road (pronounced Kazan), where you can meet many similar backpackers coming from all over the world. However, Khaosan Rd is not a good place for accommodation, though there are many choices there. In fact, it is too crowded and noisy when you need peace of mind to compensate you lost energy in the night party. Instead you can stay in a nearby neighborhoods as you can reach any tourist attraction while you can enjoy a cozy accommodation.

I just found a serviced apartment named above on the other side of the river. The price was quite good for a 50m2 apartment (e.g. 1,000 B), and there were also discounts for weekly and monthly stay. It is a good choice, particularly when you are a group. You can go to Khaosan Rd via Taxi with only 60 B. You have a small kitchen.

It had good facilities, a great swimming pool (free for guests), a good fitness room (free for guests), tennis court, ...

However, the main purpose of writing this review was to emphasize something which is usually missed in Bangkok. The local life on the other side of the river. I had chance to see it. There was no tourist there. It's something worth of experiencing.

Hi Eddie,

This looks like the perfect place to stay for long term trips to Bangkok. But how about transportation? This is quite far from both subway and Skytrain aint it?
