Situs Tradisi Megalitik Gunung Padang Reviews
Hosh, a real exercise for my shank Apr 22, 2011
We spent 2 hours in the morning delivered family photographs to villager of Gunung Padang village, less than 40 houses in the village, and we visited maybe half, but houses scattered on hilly terrain, then it's quite an exercise.
After our village visit, We visit Situs Tradisi Megalitik Gunung Padang (Mount Padang Megalithic Site) which from some sources are believed as biggest megalithic site in South East Asia, +/-900 m2 structure on areal of 3 Ha, located on 894 masl.
Then come the real exercise :D, to reach the site we need to climb very steep of 400 steps of andesite rocks. I climb slowly, pause for breathing, and 20 minutes later I reach the site.
Some friends, which a regular visitor of the site just sit and chat, others with curiosity do more climb and walk around the site, try to play tone on musical rocks—I spotted 2 musical rocks and surprisingly high tone, curious with ‘tiger footprint’, and take pictures to upload to travbuddy :).
We down hill from different route, not as steep as our way up, detour, more in distance, but take less time—15 minutes. While climb up I burden my shank, going down I burden my knees, which 4 days later I still feel stiffness on my shank when down stairs.
I remember a source said, “Mount Padang Megalithic Site is built with astromantic calculation and a visit on July, on bright night sky, will be able to see billion of stars also serpens and aquila constellation.” If you are a fans of night stars, you might be want to cross check the info and arrange your visit accordingly.
Retribution: We sign the guestbook and pay IDR 6000 for 6 persons—almost negligible amount
