Este Museo fue mandado a construir e inaugurado en 1997 por el entonces presidente Alberto Fujimori. Tiene en su interior una importante colección de fotos de antaño, tomadas a comienzos de este siglo por fotógrafos como Courret, Garreud, etc. Entre ellas, se observan vistas de la Plaza San Martín, Malecón Leguía, Catedral de Lima, Palacio de Gobierno, estatua ecuestre de Pizarro ubicada inicialmente en el ingreso a la Catedral de Lima (1930) y ahora colocada en el Parque de la Muralla, el Convento de los Descalzos de Lima, Claustro de la Casa de Ejercicios, Capilla del Carmen, entre otras que muestran la evolución urbana del Valle del Rímac.

Asimismo, se observa una fotografía de pared a pared de la Lima de noche y algunos maniquíes que representan al velero (vendedor de velas de antaño), la chichera, la tapada, entre otros.

Asimismo, se ven placas fotográficas donde se han plasmado para la posteridad conocidos lugares del Callao, Barranco, Chorrillos y otros distritos de la gran Lima.

Está abierto hasta las 8.00 pm y el ingreso es de 1.50 soles adultos, niños y estudiantes 1 sol.

This Museum was ordered to be built and opened in 1997 by then President Alberto Fujimori. Has within a large collection of old photos, taken earlier this century by photographers such as Courret, Garreud , etc. Including views of the Plaza San Martín, Leguía Malecón, Lima Cathedral, Government Palace, equestrian statue of Pizarro initially located at the entrance to the Cathedral of Lima (1930)and now placed in "El Parque de la Muralla", the Convent of Los Descalzos, Cloister of the Exercises House, Chapel del Carmen, including showing the urban evolution of Rímac Valley.

Also, a photograph of a wall to wall Lima nightlife is observed and some mannequins representing candle-seller (seller candles of yesteryear), the chichera, stuffy, among others.

Photographic plates which have been shaped for posterity known places of Callao , Barranco, Chorrillos and other large districts of Lima is also seen.

Is open until 8.00 pm and admission is 1.50 soles adults , children and students 1 sol
