Sister Bella Melbourne Reviews
Another typical (but worthwhile) Melbourne bar. Oct 21, 2012
One of my favorite places in Melbourne, I stumbled across this place 7 years ago. Walking past the alley way off Drewery lane I spot the only telltale signs of habitation; pot plants. I walk past the dumpsters, hurry away from the xxx store and avoid the rotten food from the restaurants scattered on the ground. At the end of the alley there's a dark doorway leading through to a dark hall and if your not scared away yet you have done a good job... After you have passed the hall and climbed the steps to the second floor you're in for a pleasant surprise!
The decor, I suppose is... Rustic? With only subtle changes over the years. They have kept true to their original style. And I guess they have always tried to keep a comfortable atmosphere, with low lights, friendly smiles your in for a fun, but relaxed time. Limited drinks and food, it's easy to decide what you want. But just because there's not much to choose from, they make it up by the quality of food and mixers and they have good options for beer drinkers.
Over the years they have fixed the numerous holes in the ceiling and floor, created more seating space and made the toilets a little more... Accessible haha
All in all you are in for a good time if you are brave enough to go past the first dumpster. The quietest time is during the day for a coffee or beer with one of their amazing $5 pizzas. Weeknights get a bit busier with your ninetofivers after work drinks and the weekend nights are the busiest yet! The staff are always willing to help you find a seat and once you do you can spend all night drinking and talking!!!
Sister Bella will always be my number 1!! :)
