Sintra is a beautiful place and is worth a visit when in Portugal...
It is located about 3 hrs away by train from Lisbon. After the train trip, you take a bus that takes to express through the old streets of Sintra, up the hill to Pena Palace, where many kings and queens have resided over the centuries... Technically it only takes you to the gates, from there you have to take a series of trams that go up the steep mountain to the castle.
Pena Palace is spectacular, with virtual...

There wasn’t much going on at the conference we were supposed to be attending, so we ditched to go see Sintra. We took a bus from Estoril, which took about 20min and cost around 3.70 Euros. Everyone I had talked to told me how “you MUST see Sintra”, so we were pretty excited thinking we were finally going to do some serious sight-seeing in Portugal.
We get dropped off by the bus and grab a city map at the tourism office. We decide we are going to see the Palácio Naci...

My first big trip. It was little bit too much spontaneous and disorganized but finally everything ends good. I just lost my cell and somebody stole me 100€ (which where half of all my money)... just ;), but nevertheless I really enjoy the trip. I believe that the next one will be more lucky.

Although Sintra is my hometown, it's also a very well-known travel destination. I took some evenings in Fall and Winter seasons to go take a few pictures of this special place, the Lord Byron's Eden...

Over Memorial Day weekend 2007, I visited Lisbon, Portugal and the surrounding areas. It was a spur of the moment trip, but well worth it. I got to hang out with an old friend and see an amazing European capital city.

What originally brought me to Lisbon was The Optimus Alive festival, with headliner Rage Against the Machine. Other than a fantastic rock festival, I discovered an area so enchanting with astonishing natural beauty, which took my by surprise as it's seemingly outside the usual euro tourism radar. Incredible coastlines, classic moorish architecture, stunningly lush mountainous forests, delicious seafood & warm weather with deep blue skies. Yep.

On Saturday, we all took a bus tour to towns in the hills and coastal areas west of Lisbon. The first stop was in the hill town of Sintra, home to several of the countries most famous palaces. There was a long line for the Palacio Nacional de Sintra and we had little time to spend here, but our guide was quite persuasive. They let us sneak in and quickly take a look through some of the rooms of the palace. The town is full of quaint little shops selling artwork, c...
