Singapore Art Museum was a bit of disappointment. Lots and lots and lots of space with nothing, nothing, nothing inside. I think that my room has more interesting art pieces than this place. Yes, there are few rooms that are well made and couple of nice large art pieces, but I really dislike minimalistic approach to art in general. Be minimalistic to minimalistic art, but give me some variety and quantity…

Couple of pieces were unique and interesting, and I like interactive kind-of-closet that they have in the secondary lobby, horse made of film tubes, buda in stickers...

I must say that I spent two hours inside, but not because I had something to do, but because of crazy monsoon rain that was trying to flood the city.

Singapore Art Museum - a nice way to spend a lazy afternoon Nov 09, 2012
The Singapore Art Museum (aka SAM) used to be a school, St. Joseph's Institution. One might notice the seals and the statue of St John Baptist de La Salle, which is familiar to those who have studied at any of the schools run by the Catholic La Salle Brothers.

Entrance fee is SGD 10 (Singaporean Dollars) for adults while seniors and students get a 50% discount (5SGD). SAM is open daily from 10AM until 7PM (except Fridays when it is open until 9PM and entrance is complementary from 6-9PM Friday evenings).

There are various art displays inside the SAM and there is another building at Queen Street (SAM at 8Q) across the road(SAM is at Bras Basah Road).

There are a lot of light inspired artworks, depending on the overall theme.

A nice creative distraction from busy city life ;) Oct 03, 2011
The Singapore Art Museum (or SAM) is located close to the main shopping district on Bras Basah Rd.

It features all sorts of paintings and sculptures from a range of modern artists throughout Asia.

There are also many special exhibitions. Check their website for details of those time limited exhibitions.

It's easy to get there, since it's in walking distance to City Hall and Dhoby Ghaut.

The closest MRT station is Bras Basah of the circle (yellow) line, which I think opened in 2010. It's right next to the SAM.

Admission is 10$, or you can go in for free on Friday from 6pm to 9pm.

Inside the museum there's a lot of colorful sometimes crazy modern artwork.

If u like design and modern colorful art, this is the place to be!

It's a really good place to chill out after a long day of shopping and/or sightseeing.

Although the place isn't that small, it doesn't take you a lot of time in there... one or two hours should be sufficient time to spend in there!
