Silverfjord Kingussie Reviews
Silverfjord Sep 28, 2013
Silverfjord is a pub/restaurant in the Highlands of Scotland, inside the Cairngorms National Park, and was recommended to me by the guesthouse I was staying in. It is one of the gastropubs that are slowly taking over in the UK, offering very affordable, slightly posh food. For someone who grew up with pub grub being stuff-in-a-basket-with-chips, this is always a nice surprise.
The food is excellent. The menu focuses around classics like pork belly, venison and things like that, but there were certainly vegetarian options. The quality was great. The desserts were lovely too, and the presentation had a lot of effort put in to it. I loved my crème brullee. It is a little pricier than average for pub food, but for the quality that’s fine. The wine list looked nice, but I stuck to the local real ale, which was lovely.
There are two parts where you can eat; the bar and the restaurant. Both are nicely decorated and pleasant. The service was faultless and friendly. This is a really good option for dinner if you’re using Kingussie as a base for hiking, or if you have time to pull right off the A9 to eat.
