An improving menu at Silver Diner Jul 04, 2012
Silver Diner is a regional chain of retro-themed coffee shops. The decor is very silvery and there is an operating vintage jukebox at each table. We've found the menu and food have been improving in recent years with less filling and healthier entrees and Silver Diner promotes its purchases of fresh and locally grown foods. (It is much better than the coffee shops of yore.)

Once in a while we enjoy coming here for breakfast. What better day to do that than the midweek 4th of July holiday. I ordered a Western Omelet (three eggs with cheese, ham, green peppers and onion). Susan was more adventurous and had Eggs Benedict. We both substituted fresh strawberries with yogurt for the accompanying home fries. (A bit extra cost.) A satisfying breakfast!

We've enjoyed other meals here, too as well as at the Merrifield location. For dinner, I might have Black Angus Meatloaf, a Reuben sandwich, or the Build Your Own Burger.

Several locations in the Virginia and Maryland suburbs.

Like that use of fresh and locally grown foods and it make a difference in the quality. I enjoy the vintage style restaurants too.
