Silver City Overview

Most of Silver City is itself an outdoor museum, the small mining equipment on the corner of Washington & Avalanche is no different. There are no signs or information boards, but if you've found yourself here, you can probably connect the dots and figure out what they are for.

While back in the mining boom, there were 200+ mines and hundreds of prospectors. Today, there is only one mine still in operation. It is of course off limits to the general public, so these displays may be the closest you can find.

There's been no electricity since 1940's, however they have maintained telephone service since 1880. The rustic cabins and dirt paths are likely little changed since the 1860's. A step back in time for sure with current residents being just odd enough to match the town's personality.
