Our main mission for the morning was simply to get from the Cindrella Hotel in Siliguri to the airport in Bagdogra, about 10 miles away. This was easier said than done, considering the possibility of large crowds and demonstrations on the way. Because "there might be trouble on the road," (the hotel manager's words) the hotel chartered a bus (safer than car) to bring its guests to the airport at 10am. As usual, I was awake frighteningly early. Life starts early and finishes early in this region. And Chowrasta came to life again at about 5:30am. 30s metal windows don't provide any kind of sound insulation.

After a tiring 17 hour train journey we finally arrived in Silguri where we spent one night at the Hotel View Inn before heading on to Kurseong.

Na een erg lange reis van Varanasi (door de komst van de prime-minister vetrokken we al heeel vroeg naar het treinstation, en hier kwam ook nog eens 5,5 uur vertraging bovenop) kwamen we dan eindelijk, uitgeput en wel, aan in Siliguri. Tegen half 12 hadden we een geschikt hotel gevonden en hebben dan ook meteen gebruik gemaakt van de aanwezige bedden.
Na een lekkere nacht geslapen te hebben, zijn we de stad gaan bekijken. We waren al wel goed geinformeerd dat deze stad niet echt toeristisch…

After using the internet for hours last night, I went back to my favorite little pizza place this time for garlic chicken and mushroom pizza. I was kept entertained by two young kids who played with me with their balloons. One of their caretakers asked me if I was a spinster! Another day, another city and today we've woken up in Siliguri. After recharging on voddie and cuzza in Sikkim we're again up for what India can chuck at us!!!
We're in Siliguri cause it's a stop over between Sikkim and Calcutta, we're only staying one night and we're organised - we're staying at the mount View Hotel a fantastic option with massive clean rooms and a welcoming atmosphere according to the Lonely planet.....
