Silence Beach Resort Side Reviews
Hotel nice, food and service disapointing Jul 05, 2009
Our family spent two weeks at Silence Beach Resort in June 2009.This was our 4th holiday in Turkey and we were realy loking forward to it.Our earlier experiences were very positive: nice people, nice food, great hotels at a good value.
The Turkish cuisine is said to be in the top 5 cuisines of the world. This is probably true and is one of the reasons we keep returning. Unfortunately the food at silence beach was actually not what we have got used to in Turkey. The meals got to be quite boring by the 2nd week, always the same types of dishes. Also very few sea food and if any then made the same way. Mainly chicken, turkey, some lamb and many köfte types of dishes. The vegetables were not tasty at all, probably coming from hothouse sources. Fruits always the same melons (not very sweet which was quite strange, apricots: these we mostly not ripe (greenish) -one thing we couldnt understand is why they put these unripe apricots on the tables- peaches : these were delicous if you could get hold of them as it was most of the time gone if one didnt come in the first hour of dining. The deserts (cakes) were very nice, the usual Turkish baklava and other types of cakes. The drinks were not very good, the Tuborg beer was awful, watered (how this Internationaly prestigous brand can accept is a mystry for me) and the fruit juices made from concentrate, also quite awfull (artificial taste and to sweet) There was also Pepsi and their companions which were OK, not to mention the mineral water which was also very nice. The cocktails were no good, most of them made from local brands, although some import alcoholic drinls were available. (include in the all inclusive) The hotel location and the beach was absolutely beautifull. The pools were nice and its water was kept clean. The aquapark was fabulous, realy exciting and many water slides of different types. (Although probably not suitable for small children under 6) The room we received (pool side villa) was nice with 2 seperate bedrooms for parents and kids. The bed was very uncomfortable though, too hard surface. The pilow was very hard and uncomfortable also. Quite disappointing was the high number of Russian people. For those who have no experience of these people, they are arrogant, impolite and have no sense of normal social behaviour. Even the staff dont like them, but the hotels live from them, so they must be polite to them. Probably due to the high number of this nationality, all waiters, front desk clerks, animation team, etc greeted us in Russian which was quite annoying , esp if I consider that we dont have that typical Russian look at all. (We are Hungarians.) There was one very nice lady of the staff though at the main restaurant entrance (for greeting the guests before meals)who always greeted us in Hungarian, once she found out where we were from. Regarding the service, it was disapointing that there was a lot of undertrained personel (waiters) who didnt understand any foreign language, plus didnt do the basic job of serving the guests. We always had to call them many times to bring cutlery or bring us drinks. Since we had been to 3 other Turkish resorts (Alba Resort, Taksim Obaköy and Delphin Deluxe) of similar category, I had the chance to compare Silence R H to them. All in all I must say that the hotel facilities , beach, pools, etc are up to the expected standard, but the service and the food has to be impoved a lot to be comparable to eg. Delphin Deluxe or similar category hotels. |
