Sight Seeing Around Paris Oct 15, 2014
My wife and I recently spent 5 days on vacation in Paris. Unlike many places that we travel to, we went in blind to Paris. Other than a few recommendations for some restaurants and preferred areas, we pretty much had to figure the city out on our own. Unfortunately, it took us some time to discover the eclectic area behind the St. Michel church in the St. Germain district. If hind sight were 20/20, I would have stayed in this area as opposed to the Hyatt Regency in Etoille. St. Germain features smaller streets than the rest of the city, with vibrant alleys and cross-streets filled to the brim with happening cafes, restaurants, bars and boutique shops. Of note we found Les Deux Magots, The City Crepes Cafe and Chalet Gregoire. The St. Germain district is a small 9 block square area, south of the Seine River, just across the bridge from Notre Dame Cathedral. If this is your first time to Paris, or you are rediscovering the city, be sure to place St. Germain on the top of your list of must see places.
