I left you all with a day of irony in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, but don’t worry sports fans, there is more where that came from.  I am trying to go out with a bang with a third volume on this magic trip.  Will I follow the line of great third movies such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade or Rocky III (Mr. T anyone?), or will it go down as a failure like the Godfather III or Spiderman 3?   It all starts with the usual….take your pick – trains/planes/automobiles – how a...

Bus travel, Cambodian style

For anyone who’s done the notorious trip by road from Siem Reap to Bangkok (or the other way around) you’ll know something of what to expect from this story.   To call the road from the Cambodian border to Siem Reap atrocious is probably not being entirely fair. It is one of the best examples of how a group of determined potholes can masquerade as a road. The condition of the road itself is only one of the pitfalls awaiting you though. Most travellers in that part of the world are...

Vietnam & Cambodia Dec 2007: Siem Reap Travel Photos

Vietnam and Cambodia are really affordable to everyone. I have found the people to be very friendly in both countries. I visisted Saigon and did all the side trips (Megkong Delta, Chi Chu tunnels, Cat Tien national Park), Hanoi including the Halong Bay trip and Sapa. In Cambodia I unfortunately only did Siem Reap with 4 temples of which Angkor Wat is the most famous. I loved it and would do it again.

Leaving Chup Crocky
posted by:
Jun 08, 2006 - Aug 11, 2006
Each day at the service project was much like the first day, following the same general schedule.  Steve and I got to know the kids a little better and understood the village better by the time we left on Saturday morning.  In the end, though we were dissapointed that we couldn't help out more to the village, we were grateful to have the experience of seeing this tiny village and how they live.  Today we left Chup Crocky however, since there was nothing more for us to do there....

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.

Roads of Hell, Cambodia

Cambodia is an inspiring country to visit. When one thinks of the awe inspiring Angkor Wat & the tragedy under the Khmer Rouge it is a country that deserves to be visited. Siem Reap is quite westernised. This city is filled with shops with a cause (supporting local artists & disadvantaged groups that produce handicrafts to support themselves) to cafe's with scrumptious food! The Tuk tuk drivers are extremely funny. I loved their sense of humour after their offers were declined severa...

Howdy Partners! I’m in Vietnam but allow me a little time to backtrack a little and explain what I have been up to. The last time I made a blog entry I was about to go to bed............. The following day (31st Jan) I found myself still in Bangkok still generally having a chill out. The day got off to a bad start as I started taking my malaria tablets and took them on an empty stomach so thus the next couple of hours were spent moaning like a little girl and feeling a bit sick. Aft...
