When you're in Thailand, might as well make the trip next door to see the amazing temples in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Siem Reap is a different world from industrial and bustling Bangkok. The rural nature and at times heavy poverty, is more than apparent. Still, something about this small dusty town (perhaps its relationship and proximity to some of the most beautiful religous architecture on Earth), made it an amazing and throughly worthwhile trip. Can't wait to go again.

01/06/09   Another painfully early start (6:00am) and we left for Siem Reap.  I only had REM sleep at best being in a room close to the bar, and so very groggily and feeling a bit sorry for myself, I endured the six hour bus journey.    We arrived (hoping dysente…

So I left Thailand's beaches behind and onto Cambodia, starting in Siem Reap.  Whereas Thailand is fairly well developed, Cambodia is still a decade or so behind.  Once you get out of the 15 or so city centre blocks in Siem Reap, the streets are no longer paved, housing is basic by wester…

Summary of my travels since starting to travel for work in 2004. Three continents and three jobs later, this blog is an ongoing work in process. All locations are entered through present, will be adding descriptions and pictures as I have the opportunity. Please let me know if you see an entry without info you would like me to upload pictures for and I can take care of adding that location's items sooner.
