*This entry is backdated*On the flight from Hanoi to Siem Reap, there were only about 25 people. The airport in Siem Reap is so small, but they are building another terminal. I met my driver, and he arranged for him and a guide to take me to the Angkor Wat Temples the next morning. I told him …

The Vietnam Airlines flight from Luang Prabang was a quick hour and a half, so just as I was getting comfortable and had filled out the three forms I was given on the plane, we were touching down. The visa on arrival process is pretty painless. I was through immigration and had my bags within 15 mi…

Another painfully early start (6:00am) and
we left for Siem Reap. I only had REM
sleep at best being in a room close to the bar, and so very groggily and
feeling a bit sorry for myself, I endured the six hour bus journey.
We arrived (hoping dysente…

The Vietnamese have some very strange dietary habits. I was informed by an unnamed individual in no uncertain terms that I would not be rewarded for eating dog, so declined the opportunity when Huang, our tour "leader" (a facilitator, not a guide, according to the buzz language of Intrepid Travel) …

I spent 4 weeks backpacking through Thailand, Vietnam & Cambodia. Vietnam is absolutely the most beautiful country I have ever been to! The people in this region are incredibly friendly, humble and appreciative and I would gladly go back given the opportunity!

It´s an amazing experience to meet people while traveling. I think the foreign setting makes everything and everyone just seem more intriguing, adventurous, and exotic...kind of like beer goggles without the beer. In any case, you can at least appreciate the likeminded interests in exp…

Siem Reap is definitely a town developing for the sake of tourism. And with Angkor Wat and the other temples just a stone's throw away, it's in a good position. There is lots of variety in the bars, pubs, and restaurants. I even found wi-fi and an ANZ ATM machine (despite the travel books saying no…

when i was in high school college and all that didn't seem like type of life i wanted to live and i most certainly didn't want to end up in a typical routine. i wanted to do something where i could really do anything i want. since traveling always inspired me i decided instead of college to go away for a little while. i picked out Australia just because i didn't know too much about it and it seemed like a interesting place to visit, i planned to be away for about four months.

Apart from going to Angkor Wat when you are in Siem Reap, Cambodia, one must also visit the "Landmine Museum" & the "War Museum". The Landmine Museum is not like an ordinary Museum. It's actually a small village where most of the people staying there had their arms or limbs amputated as a resul…
