Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival Reviews

Dec 15, 2005
Birmingham, Alabama is home to many exciting events, places and sites to explore.  One thing that is a definite do not miss each year is the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival, a celebration of new independent cinema in downtown Birmingham, the third weekend of September.

Since its debut in 1999, filmmakers from across
the country and around the world have come to Birmingham to screen
their work at Sidewalk and have been thrilled to discover fresh,
enthusiastic crowds eager to devour new independent cinema. The
atmosphere at Sidewalk is electric with creativity and collaboration
as film-lovers and filmmakers mix and mingle between screenings,
participate in SideTalk panel discussions at the Sidewalk Tech Center,
or simply enjoy food and live music at the Sidewalk Cafe located
at 'G'. Don't miss your chance to be a part of what the Ultimate
Film Festival Survival Guide calls "One of the Top 10 Film
Festival Vacations."

On Friday, the stars fall on Alabama at our OPENING NIGHT CELEBRATION
at the historic Alabama Theatre, which includes an awards presentation
to our special celebrity guests. Then keep your seats for the Opening
Night Film! On Saturday and Sunday, the festival spreads to seven
venues, including the Alabama Theatre, the Carver Theatre, the Brick
Room, Alabama Power, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Harbert Center
and the Children's Film Extravaganza at McWane Center's Rushton
Theatre, all in walking distance throughout downtown Birmingham.

The atmosphere is amazing and everyone agrees, this festival is a MUST for all film enthusiasts.

Sounds pretty neat-- what are some of the notable films that have been shown here?
