Siam Healing Center Koh Phangan Reviews
Siam Healing Center Jun 09, 2013
Siam Healing Center was a gem that we found on Koh Pha Ngan. As its name says, it is generally a healing center that includes great yoga center and Thai massage school. Lodging is situated in two areas, one, older, around the small pond right next to the center and second that is long term lodging right next to the beach.
Center is located close to Thong Sala port so it is fairly easy to reach it, even on foot. My favorite mean of transport on this island is motorcycle and you can get it for 4-5$ per day. Every bungalove has only one apartment and it costs 600 bath per day. I am not sure if the price goes up during the high season, but this was great price for the quality of the place. I was very skeptical in beginning thinking of those Yoga places where people walk like zombies and pretend that yoga will heal their psychological issues… but no, this place is very different. First of all, this place is run by fantastic lady that is one of the authorities on Thai massage and also an incredible designer. She also cooks very good and has great stories. Two main buildings and also most of the houses close to the beach are beautifully designed by her. I just love when lots of natural material is used to enhance the structure of the building.
Pond looked like perfect place for mosquitoes to have babies, but surprisingly that was missing while I was there. Large terrace looks at the pond greenery and frog orchestra has familiar song for you every day. First thing I did is to place my hammock on strategically prominent place, and enjoy it in fullest.
Room is well equipped with good AC, fan, good furniture and great big bed. Shower has hot water and it is specious, very clean and has nice big mirror. Kitchen is also well equipped and has gas stow and small refrigerator. There is also number of see-through lizards that eat small bugs and also sing their nice songs. They are the guardians of the place and we named them on the first day…
We stayed here for good two weeks while my friend was finishing his Thai massage course. I had that “misfortune” that they always needed bodies to practice on. Maybe it sounds like a heaven for some of you, being massaged every day for couple hours, but it is a hard work and after few days I asked for unpaid leave heheheh. In surrounding area there are few larger stores, 7/11 that works 24h, and for good and extremely cheap and good food you can go to the Thong Sala market. For all basic things you won’t need scooter, but you would love to move a bit around and go to the nice beaches (beaches around Thong Sala are bad and not worth stepping on.
On this island you can find similar quality of bungalove for the same price and right on the beach, but they are pretty far on the other side of the island. Siam is warmly recommended for all of you that want close proximity to the city but quiet and nice place.
