Backpacker place Feb 25, 2011
Arguably the only hotel in the Mount Abu region that is geared towards foreign backpackers, this place is fairly cheap too when you compare it to the competition nearby. I stayed here for two nights, and paid 150 R for the slightly bigger room and 100 R for the slightly smaller room. Both rooms were comfortable enough, and clean too. The décor was a little boring and dull though!

Apart from the room, the toilet and bathroom are located nearby and are nicely maintained. The bathroom doesn’t have hot water directly, but a bucket is bought to you very quickly upon request.

The place has a good and well-priced internet café. Their food and drink selection is impressive, but is overpriced and the food is a little basic.

The location is very good, with the main bus station only being a 5-10 minute walk away and pretty easy to get to as well.

The staff are polite and their customer service is rather basic. They aren’t rude or anything but you don’t feel like that they are genuinely concerned for you either.

This is probably an average place at best, but its reasonable prices, good location and backpacker crowd make it a worthy place to consider staying at.

exactly! this one is the best for foreign and budget backpackers, and that's why i mentioned it at the start. abu attracts a fair share of tourists, and there are nicer places to suit all budgets and tastes - i just opted for the money-saving one!

Yeah, but you said there aren't many options in that town, is that right?

haha, glad the review helped you then! i really didn't mind waiting for the hot water for a shower, it was more the simple rooms and average customer service that were more of a letdown!

Conceited service Mar 07, 2010
This hotel had a good write up from the Lonely Planet and on the surface its easy to see why. You can get a good, clean room with hot shower en-suite for INR 300 (£4.50/$7.50) and the food served in the little restaurant downstairs is excellent. They organise trekking tours, but when I asked, their price had mysteriously gone up from INR 200 to INR 300 a person for a 4 hour trek. Given that there's no food provided and its just one guide, it seems a bit steep.

There's an internet cafe downstairs (INR40/hour).

My problem with this hotel as you'll see from my blog was the arrogant, condascending old man who was in charge -it meant I cut short my stay, and sadly why I wouldn't recommend this hotel to others.
