Shopping Leblon Rio de Janeiro Reviews
Good place to grab lunch and people watch Jan 15, 2010
I'm not normally a mall person, but they're everywhere in Rio, and are a good place to explore when the weather is rainy. "Shopping Leblon" is a relatively new mall in Rio, and contains a mix of both well recognized international brands as well as some local Brazilian ones.
If you're coming here expecting a bargain, unless you're an oil tycoon, you might be disappointed. We went to "Diesel', a popular/trendy clothing store in the USA, and t-shirts were selling for well over $120 USD each. A long-sleeved shirt/sweater was selling for over $350 USD, and I think it was on sale. Comparable prices in the states would be 1/3rd to 1/4th of those prices. We didn't even look at the prices of the jeans. I guess people in Leblon are doing quite well!
By far my favorite part of the mall was the food court on top. Almost every mall here has a food court, and the food courts are a lot more appetizing than what you might find in other countries. There are lots of buffet places where you are charged by the kilo, and most of them are tasty and reasonably priced. It seems like most people grab lunch in these mall food courts because they are always bustling and packed.
Good place to people watch and grab a relatively inexpensive bite to eat, in a comfortable and social setting.
