Good Food, Good Entertainment Jun 29, 2011
Shogun is a really fun place to eat and be entertained by the Japanese cooks. There is the option of eating at a regular table or at the hibachi grill, and I highly recommend the hibachi.

A total of 8 people can sit per grill, so it is likely that you will be dining with complete strangers. There are 12 hibachi grills total, so quite a few can be served at once. (Which can make for quite a show, if they are firing at the same time).

The hibachi menu is extensive. You can choose from steak, chicken, lobster, shrimp, salmon... I got the chicken. The mena is started with soup and slad. And, the Japanese cook begins his show with lighting oil on fire on the grill. He prepares the rice and vegetables as well as everyone entree options. In the meantime, he squirts sake in to the mouths of willing adults. And, he tosses vegetables for diners to try and catch. Some successful, others notsomuch.

The prices are relatively reasonable. My chicken entree (with soup and salad) was $15. But, that is dinner and entertainment. The tsunami cocktail (malibu, blue curacao, and pineapple juice) was $6.

Shogun is located at the Fairview Heights/Collinsville exit on I-64. Turn north and you will see the sign on the east side of the road. At the second stoplight, turn east and it's right there.

I had called ahead for reservations, but they don't make formal reservations. Turns out, even htough there were busy, we were able to be seated immediately (this being about 8 o'clock on a Saturday evening).
