Nice temple area for a walk around Jul 28, 2000
The Shofukuji Temple was the first Zen temple that was build in Japan. Founded in 1195 by the priest Eisai, the templee buildings can not be visited inside.

I did found the walk around the temples quite nice. The place is located in a park like area, with lots of trees and some walk paths.

Two of the buildings that are most prominent there, are the Sanmon Gate and the Butsuden Hall. The last mentioned was rebuild in 1911. The area is free to visit and if you like temples or want some peace & quiet, it's a nice place for a walk or rest.
