Shoebury East Beach
Shoebury East Beach Shoeburyness Reviews
Southends Only Clean Beach! Mar 12, 2008
Southend-on-sea for a hundred years or more has been the biggest day out for most Londoners, and indeed it is still much the same. There are many arcades, a pleasure pier, bowling and even a small themepark. But what about beaches?
Having lived in the Southend area my entire life I would suggest to all tourists coming to southend to stay out of the water! Its never been known for its cleanliness as the beaches are technically river banks on a busy ferry route. There is however one that during the summer I do and would suggest visiting.
The beach is Shoebury east beach in Shoeburyness. It has a blue flag which is always good, lovely imported sands and the best part is that it is very easily accessible from the C2C line from London.
The only disadvantage is that although perhaps less known by out-of-towners the locals definately know of it. It quickly fills up and the car park being a large grass field is littered with cars, barbeques and hippy vans.
Despite the blue flag i would suggest that all young children are supervised though as there is alot of rubble and dumped bricks which can cut your feet along the shore. The only disadvantage is as the name suggests. The beach faces east, which means you will lose the sun relatively quickly in the evenings. But still, you wont be going there in the winter as its too bloody windy!
