Homemade Soba noodles served with duck soup Jun 12, 2011
One of the good restaurant that serves great and genuine soba noodles.
The location is close to JR Ishikawacho station (the nearest station to Yokohama Chinatown), but the restaurant is located in a small alley and it may be difficult to find it.
The restaurant is operated by a cook (owner) and 2 waitresses at maximum, it's really a small restaurant.
The owner purchases organic buckwheat flour from the contract farmer in Hokkaido to keep the good quality and taste, and he also purchases all the veggie that he uses at the kitchen directly from the contracted local farmers.
All the soba noodles are made by the owner himself, and if you visit the restaurant during idle time (late afternoon), he might make soba noodles from flour just for you (if you're lucky).
Their specialty is "Kamo-Seiro"cold soba noodle served with warm duck soup. But if you want to enjoy the aroma of soba, normal "seiro-soba" would be better. The soup is quite good and filling but a bit strong with soy sauce.
Other dishes they serve than soba noodles are also good.
"Dashimaki tamago" (soup flavored omelette) is also their specialty and must-try.
If you order alcoholic drink, they would serve amuse that goes well with Japanese sake. I also recommend you to give it a try.
