Shinagawa Prince Hotel Tokyo Reviews
Decent hotel in Tokyo Oct 26, 2009
For tokyo, at about $ 100 US a night for single room, I believe this was a good deal. The room is small but I have seen smaller in Japan, you still have room for a desk and enough room to walk around. The bathroon is not that big but very clean and good water pressure in the shower. Plenty of ameneties in this hotel, this is a huge complex with many towers, restaurants, shops, business centre with internet access ( about 500 yens for acess to a computer but as long as you want). There are a Seven Eleven nearby and the Shinagawa station has everything ( supermarket). You have a fridge so that is useful. You are located 2 minutes from the train station that gives you access to the whole city and the Shinkansen for daytrips. Oh, the station has everything too, Starbucks, restaurants, shops,.. Though, you are a bit far from areas of interest in Tokyo, between 20 to 30 minutes to Shinjuku, Shibuya or Roppongi. But that was fine for me. It was clean, confortable and guest relation is great. The only thing is that I found that hotel very busy, many business men, tourist, it is a big complex meaning that you hear noise in the hallway until late time. The room are not that sound proof so my ear plugs were useful! For low budget travellers, it will do the job but if you can get a room for about the same price in an area of interest, I would go for it.

Jun 27, 2005At $100 a night this would usually be way out of my price range. Apparently this was a discounted rate, anyway it seems I didn't have much choice. I asked a friends dad who used to be a travel agent to find somewhere for me to stay while I was in Tokyo, somewhere cheap-ish and in a convenient location. The location was very convenient and apparently the price isn't bad for Tokyo. I guess some things are just expensive! Anyway the room was nice and cute because it was so small! Really narrow, they are really stuck for space in Japan (which is why I didn't want to stay at friends' places, because I knew it'd be a real hassle for them - anyway one was really far out and the other was far-ish out and she was already sharing a tiny room with her sister). It was so funny, I don't know how ergonomical the door to the toilet was, anyway it was really funny and it had all these strange settings like heated-toilet seats (see my blog entry!) Also I could hear the guy next door singing in the shower which was hilarious because it was all in Japanese! Karoke, haha! But seriously it was a very good hotel, it had a tv that you could watch from bed and lots of interesting channels and all the usual stuff. Very close to Shinagawa train station which was probably the best thing about it. Very comfortable! Thumbs up. Part of the Japan and East Coast USA travel blog |
