A last minute booking for a weekend in Macau. We really wanted to stay at the Venetian but prices were expensive at the last minute so we checked alternatives. The Sheraton was one of the cheapest larger hotels, think we paid around 1400$hk per night and this didn't include breakfast which I found a bit strange on Asia.

We hopped on the free shuttle bus from the coati ferry terminal straight to the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. After checking in we got into our room which was ready early. We were on level 22 of the sky tower which had fantastic views over towards the Venetian. The weather right now is pretty poor so we didn't make use of the pools, just too cold for outdoor swimming.

The rooms were big, clean and comfortable and more contemporary decor than the Venetian.

I'd stay here again.

I was disappointed by Macau's lack of buzz, it's all about serious gambling and less drinking. The cotai strip only has a handful of hotels but many are under construction. Will be interested to see it in a few years.

My advice for anyone visiting Macau, bring currency. I've visited previously and always been able to use Hk$ but a few retailers will only take mop. Then we found exchanging currency a nightmare. They will take mop and give you hk$ but not vice versa. Will know for next time.

Am also surprised the US$180 rate didn't include breakfast.

Macau hotels are usually expensive because of the clientele they cater to.

Luxury Hotel in Macau, near to the airport Oct 04, 2014
Sheraton Macao hotel, provide free shuttle bus to the Macau city, to the airport. If you know how to used the free shuttle bus, you could save a lot money. This hotel located in the mall, going up to your room, it can be very confused due to the big building. If you're going in to wrong elevator, you're not able to go to your room. For first day, you need to take awhile to get yourself used to this building, it just too huge, just look for a landmark, then it's easier for you to go for a right elevator and go to your room.

The breakfast in this hotel, they got lots of varieties and a lot choices to choose for, if you have to be there early for breakfast, if not there's going to be a long queue.

Shopping here not recommendable, hahaha..the priced are much higher than Macao City, want to do shopping go Macao city!

This hotel connected to few hotel, by walking distance to Venetian, to the holiday inn. All can do by walking
