Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh Reviews
Hotel with a great view! Apr 14, 2012
Compliments by a friend.
First choice was Balmoral but fully booked because of a football game during that weekend :P Caledonian is under renovation and smell could be a bit musky plus the history of it where one of our schoolmate jumped to her death wasn't very welcoming thought. Hence, it was decided to stay at Sheraton Hotel.
Lobby was at the lower ground floor so after going through the doors, had to use the elevator to go down the lobby. There were several guests at the lobby and it was quite busy. Many were men and some in their "football fan shirts". Nevertheless, we were immediately attended. After a few checkin particulars we were escorted to our room, top floor. Cool. The first that I checked was the window...and BOY! What a view! Edinburgh castle view from the room! It feels so special, I was really impressed!
The toilet seem a bit of a concern initially coz it's completely see through glass until I realized it has some curtain for privacy...alright :) The interesting part of the bathroom is that the light turns to different colors: red, green, blue, etc...interesting :)
Love the bed, very comfortable and there are several pillows in different kind of softness and could request more pillows of your choice...cool!
Found out shortly thereafter that being on the top floor isn't only prime for the great view but for the special access to the club lounge as well...awesome!
Went to the club to check it out. There are some food and several drinks, wine, beer, juice...a lot of choices! The atmosphere is nice and comfy. It's not very big but it wasnt crowded so it was fine. There is a sofa right infront of the TV and few other spaces that you could choose to have your own corner. There's a lady attending to every need, food, drink, etc. This is also the place to have breakfast...at least for the guests on the club lounge floor.
I like the toiletries (shampoo, soap, conditioner, etc) here. It's good stuff :) I even asked a lady I passed by making the other rooms for an extra hair conditioner and she gave me a bottle. Cool :)
I left the charger in the room after check out so the cab has to go back and had to ask the reception for the key again. They provided it immediately and went my way.
All in all, very happy for the very efficient and professional service of the hotel. Definitely LOVE the view of the Edinburgh castle from my room and will go back again if I could :)
