Shenzhen Civil Aviation Hotel Shenzhen

I have been staying in this hotel one night end of January 2009, before catching an early flight, and can only warn travelers.

My computer got stolen out of the hotel room (locked from inside!) at night just a few meters away from the 24h occupied reception and in front of the hotels laundry station.
The staff: no English abilities and not that much concerned about the topic either. I said that I wanted to talk to the police, but instead of calling the 110 suddenly a man in a police uniform (also no English) arrived with the security guard and went searching, well without asking details what they are really looking for. Time was short and receptionist suggested me to catch my flight to Shanghai and to let my phone number and email to inform me, and I asked her for her name and the manager’s name and number. Of cause, once in Shanghai I contacted the police, but what I didn’t know is that they had no investigation power or ability to transfer a report to Shenzhen.

Time is running, no news from the hotel, the manager’s telephone number, unoccupied most of the time. With the help of a Chinese friend we finished by reaching him. His statement, contradicting with the one of the receptionist, saying that the security video is not present anymore, untrue statement about the room access features, didn’t wanted to give any information about the “police man” who arrived and which station he belongs to (as he must have done a report)…etc, and just hanging up the phone.

We informed the criminal investigation bureau (on suggestion of the SH police). I am still trying to find (or being found and inform this way) a higher instance of the hotel who is concerned about their guests, security issues and ground staff attitude.
