Spenta friend´s birthday here but we left with a bad taste in our mouths. Each person gets a billet to keep track of the drinks that they order then you pay as you leave and present a ticket to the bouncer before you are let out.On the face of it a potentially good system since the waitresses need only deal with the drinks and not the cash. However, this proved a problem for our group of Kiwis, Aussies and Brits, since we wanted stick it all on one bill (as we are used to in other bars around the world) and sort it out amongst ourselves with the aid of an itemised bill.
As we left as alcohol had gripped our minds, the cashier and he bouncer spoke no English and words were exchanged. The bouncer slapping one of the girls was also unwelcome. Perhaps it would have been better to settle the bill at our table and not the end of the bar with a large queue building up behind us?
As for the bar itself, not a sign of any Irish staff but plenty of themed furnishings. I didn´t see any "no smoking" signs but people appeared to be smoking onl on the balcony, which was bloody excellent! Just like in Ireland. The beers were a tad pricey, even for Rio, but we had to ask several times to find out that Happy Hour was on! The burgers were pretty tasty but the Irish Stew was lacking and vegetarians were left wanting.
At weekends, you have to spend at least 15-20 reals on drinks and stuff to get in.
The bad points have already been described, but I must commend the waitresses who were mostly very helpful. One of them (one of the shorter ones!) went to great lengths to sort our dispute out at all points!
Overall, you´re not missing much at this bar. However,if you must go in, only stay for a couple of drinks.
