Shawarma Snack Center

In the Malate area, a few steps away from the very famous L.A. Cafe, you can find two restaurants that are across each other. The Shawarma Snack Center or SSC.

Both restaurants are owned by the same owner. Facing towards Manila bay, the one on the right is a great backpackers' market, while left is a little bit more upscale but generally, still affordable.

Although I have never been to Persia and is not the best judge of what is authentic, but this restaurant is one of the best I have ever been to in this kind of cuisine. The meat is just so tender - both chicken and beef, and they are juicy. I love the garlic sauce.

The quality is generally the same for both, it's the ambience that's a bit different. The one on the left has nice Persian interiors and artwork, cushioned seats and couches and uniformed staff. Shisha is also available.

The other on the right, although also airconditioned, is also very open to the grill so you can enjoy the delightful aroma of meat. The staff are more laidback here and the food is served faster.
