Catherine, Leigh Ann, and I had an uneventful flight from Birmingham, Alabama, to Shannon Airport on the Emerald Isle. There wasn't an empty seat and it was impossible to catch a wink of sleep because of our excitement! I had booked a driver that was to meet us at the airport and I didn't have a clue what he looked like ~ so there was a little bit of anxiety on my part. What if he was a no-show??
All my worries were put to rest after we claimed our luggage and walked toward...

Mike and I landed in Shannon and picked up the rental car. I drove us about 2 hours south to Kilarney, where we met Shea at a pub named Murphy's. After lunch, we watched the Ireland v. England rugby match before we headed out to find the B&B for our night's sleep.

Can it be the end of my European adventure? How could it have passed by so quickly? I now understand why so many people take off 6 months to a year to travel.. I'm sure that even this amount of time seems to fly by quickly.
My sister and I decided to spend some extra cash on a lovely, quaint bed and breakfast:) It was our first time staying in a classy place with REAL beds, real down comforters, running water that had hot water 24/7. our own bathrooms, a TV, couches to lounge in, a fireplac...

My trip from Dublin back to Shannon was uneventful really. Other then getting lost trying to get out of Dublin. A good city map is essential when driving in these big old cities. Even with that slight frustration I really enjoyed driving there. Once in Shannon it was already a bit late. I had dinner at the hotel and slept.

So, back to the airport we went. This was such a great trip. Although both of us wanted to see Northern Ireland we go to see so many beautiful places and we met some great people. All the more reason to come back and see Northern Ireland! If you have any specific questions about our trip, feel free to email or message me. I am going to add more pictures and the B&B's that we stayed at when I get some more time....
Cheers!!

After two very
long day of traveling, we finally made it to Ireland. We were very happy
to have the hotel in Atlanta
where we could have our sleep and freshen up on our never ending
lay-over. Even with the hotel, it still made for an endless trip.
We got into Shannon at about 7:30am and had a full day to get through
so the jet lag wouldn't be too bad. We got our car, a tiny Nissan that
magically fit all of our stuff comfortably, and found our way North to
Kinvarra....

It is O'dark thirty (hey I was in Ireland, I thought that was appropriate). Last night after we got back from partying at the other hotel, we returned to our own hotel to find the bar there still full of people. Mostly from the wedding reception that had occured there earlier. Well a bunch of us had decided that since we had to be back in the lobby at 03:30....why the hell go to bed. So it was a couple more pints and some good conversation. We joined some of the locals that were listeni...

We left the hotel early this morning and headed for Waverly Station to board a train to Glasgow and our connecting flight to Shannon, Ireland. Sadly, the trip to Glasgow Airport was the easiest part of our day.Glasgow International Airport is not huge but a pain in the rear end. There are no check-in terminals for each of the airlines. Instead, you have to stand under these screens and wait for a check-in point to be shown as open for your existing flight. Hence, us getting there 3 hours befo...

Shannon Airport is an airport in Ireland. It is the second busiest airport in Ireland by passenger movements (after Dublin). Shannon Airport is situated in County Clare in the mid-west region of Ireland, nine miles from Limerick City. The airport is operated by the Dublin Airport Authority. Shannon Airport handles flights from a wide variety of destinations. The majority of flights are to the United Kingdom and United States of America. Shannon and Dublin are the only two European airports wi...

After arriving at the Shannon Airport via Dublin, our trip began! We got our rented car, a Toyota Starlet, a car I should note does not exist in the US. After noticing a huge dent in the front of the car we hopped in and hoped for the best!
Our first stop: Newmarket-on-Fergus!
