I went with a boy scout troop to see the area where the plane crashed. I only had a disposable camera with me so the pictures are not that great. This is only a temporary memorial. I'm not sure when the permanent one will be finished. If  I get out that way again, I'll post updated info then.

Truly breathtaking and very emotional.  I lost no one on that unfortunate day, but it does not change the emotions I feel and the tears I cried the day I visited this site.  I can not put into words what I thought or felt.  Anyone visiting the area should make every effort to visit the site.  It is difficult and emotional but it is a piece of our history and something every American should see if you have the opportunity.

We stayed near Shanksville so we could make the short drive to see the site of the 9/11 plane crash.  It was humbling.  The site of the crash was actually beautiful, as you can see from the pictures.  It was one of the highest points for miles around.  Shanksville is so small...you can't actually stay in the town.
