Shangrila Resort Skardu Reviews
A heavenly place Shangrila Jun 16, 2010
Skardu is absolutely a heaven on earth. The natural beauty is breath-taking. The harsh, high mountains, golden wheat fields, cold streams and green lakes. The fruit laden trees: apricot, apple, walnut, cherries and more. Simple, beautiful, honest people; most not yet tarnished by the selfishness of the modern world.
Skardu is a 10×40 km Valley, at the confluence of the Indus river and the Shigar River. Skardu has an altitude of about 2,500 m (8,200 feet). It is surrounded by mountains, which hide the 8,000 m high peaks of the nearby Karakoram range.
We stayed at the Shangri La Resort for just a day as its quite expensive. Local Balti and traditonal Pakistan food is great and the spot itself is very beautiful, peaceful heavenly. Many visitors from all around the Pakistan come here to spend the summers. Other famous place near Skardu is Shigar village. This village was once a small kingdom and still the ruins of the fort can be seen there. Now this fort has been renovated and it offers a great residential place for the visitors.
