Shangria Beach Tourist Hotel Mokpo Reviews
Convenient tourist hotel for sightseeing in Mokpo, South Korea Apr 18, 2011
When you travel outside of Seoul, foreigners do not have many mid to luxury level hotel accommodation choices. I had to reference Korean websites to find some decent hotels when I was making road trips around the Jeollanamdo Province which is located in the south western end of the Korean Peninsula. When I chose this hotel, it was strictly based on the hotel rating system used in Korea. This hotel is considered an upscale hotel in Mokpo with 3 star ratings where you do not find 4 to 4 star hotels.
The hotel is located right next to the downtown boardwalk area with the view to the ocean. It is really convenient if you are into looking for access to views and water. The famous seafood market is not also too far away so you can pretty much cover most of the tourist attractions using this hotel as a basis. The hotel also has several dining options like quick dining at the lobby level coffee shop and there is a sky lounge that you can use for drinks and dinner with nice view of the ocean. This can be quite appealing for romantic dinners for the locals and if you are traveling with our significant other. I did not get to use the sky lounge since I arrived late and checked out early for my next leg of the trip.
The twin bed room that I was assigned to was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was also clean and well organized for tourist on the move to take care of all grooming needs, including the special automated sprinkler type system that is commonly found in Korean toilets.
Even though hotels in smaller provincial cities do not match the quality of the higher end hotels in Seoul, this hotel was more than sufficient for a one night stay over while you are on the move. I cannot say that the price was cheap given the quality but reasonable enough for travelers seeking something in the middle.
