Shangri La Hotel The Marina Cairns

Just spent a night at the Shangri La Hotel, The Marina, Cairns on our way home after travelling around the South Pacific for three weeks (Guam, Yap & Palau.) We found the service poor, The room cost Au$299 for the night, we arrived at midnight after a late flight. We were told we had to check out at 11am then 12 noon or we would be charged extra!!! This was the most expensive hotel during our holiday by far and was the least accomodating, all other hotels were much more flexible due to poor flight times. Reception couldn't even address me by my name after introducing myself to them. The room was small with an old TV (approx 10 years) not a HD Widescreen as you would expect for that price. No free foxtel (Ausstar), the clock radio was old and must have cost about $10 with the time set 12 hours slow.
The room was Hot, with the A/C turned off!!!
The Breakfast Buffet was also poor, the food was cold straight from their warmers, our table was cleared with our breakfast half eaten whilst getting coffee. Poor Service!!! They seem alot more worried about getting your money then providing quality service!!
I wouldn't stay there again, and my advise is to avoid this hotel.
