The flight leaves on April 9 from San Francisco to Shanghai. I will spend only one night in Shanghai, so won't get to see it much on this trip. Other…

Well its my final day here. I've been in Shanghai now for a couple of days. I actually didn't do much here, travelling can get tiring, so I booked a nice hotel room (nice as in $40, in Canada the same room $120), just chilled, caught up on some sleep, took a nice long shower, shaved.&nb…

Our last full day in China was set aside for more touristy activity. Weheaded off to the Shanghai Museum which all the guidebokks had given glowing recommendations to. They were right. The impressive building housing the museum spreads the various exhibits over four floors. To see everything proper…

Traveling by your lonesome is a nice experience. This is the second time I traveled alone and I can say it's an interesting experience to submerge in one's culture even for a few days only

Shanghai itself was a blur--we arrived with the tail end of a typhoon that was battering the southern provinces and soaked us out the first day and a half. After the packed schedule of ECHT I was expecting an equally grueling schedule in China however we were left plenty of time to ourselves... too…

Yuan Garden. It was a very pretty garden but there was so many people
there that it took us a little while to get in. The garden was like a
maze it had so many different paths and hidden areas to explore that

This was actually my 3rd trip to Japan and I did it because of my japanese girlfriend I had that time. This country is in many ways so different to what Westerners are used to, so mysteriours, that usually visitors either love it or hate it. There's not much in between. I learned to appreciate Japan already during my first trip and I knew I had to come back. China was something completely different. More chaotic, more dirty and more unpredictable. Like the big clumsy brother of Japan.
